Lia from Daysli

Why Daysli shows progress in words, not streaks

My Life has no points, levels or streaks that reset. Here is why, and what it shows instead.

Lia on a slow, unproductive day at home

Today I moved three things to tomorrow. A streak app would have told me I failed. Daysli just showed me tomorrow.

What My Life doesn't do

  • No streak that resets when you miss a day.
  • No points, levels or badges.
  • No single score for your life.
  • No promise that you will succeed if you just try hard enough.

That is deliberate. My Life is built on Maximally Human, a framework for a good life that grades its own evidence, from established findings to speculation. Daysli shows each practice with its grade, and leaves out popular claims the evidence doesn't support, like "21 days to form a habit".

Streaks have a known failure: one missed day feels like losing everything, and many people quit right there. A life has bad weeks. A tool for a life should expect them.

What it shows instead

Four separate things, in words:

  • Steps done: the next steps of your goals that you completed.
  • Weeks with progress: how many weeks had at least one.
  • Milestones reached.
  • What changed: in your own words, because doing things and things changing are not the same, and only you can say when a goal is achieved.

After a gap, Daysli recognises the recovery instead of the miss, and after a hard week it offers a smaller next step.

The practices, all optional

If-then plans for your next steps. A weekly review. "Close the day" in the evening, sealed in your encrypted journal. A decision journal that shows how well calibrated you are, in words. Up to twelve measures you choose, with the question after three months: has this measure ever changed a decision? If not, drop it.

Try it

Open My Life in Daysli and write one goal. Then do nothing heroic. Just the next step.
